Four Free Mega Stones Available In Pokémon Sun and Moon | Nintendaily

The official Pokémon website has posted a special code that gives players access to four free mega stones that were previously unavailable.

To get the free mega stones, players simply need to select the Mystery Gift option in Pokémon Sun or Moon, and enter the mega stone password ‘AZUL’. Players can then speak to a deliveryman in any Pokémon centre to receive their stone.

As quoted from the site:

“Add more Mega Stones to your collection so you can Mega Evolve more Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon with a special code. When you enter the following password in your game, you’ll receive Pidgeotite, Steelixite, Heracronite, and Houndoominite Mega Stones, the items needed for Pidgeot, Steelix, Heracross, and Houndoom to Mega Evolve during battle.

Mega Stones password: AZU

To get the four Mega Stones:

  1. Select Mystery Gift on the main menu.
  2. Select Receive Gift.
  3. Select Get with Code/Password, then Yes, and then Yes again to connect to the Internet.
  4. Enter your password.
  5. Watch as you receive the Mega Stones.
  6. Speak to the deliveryman in any Pokémon Center to pick up your Mega Stones.
  7. Be sure to save your game!”

As mentioned above, the four stones available are Pidgeotite, Steelixite, Heracronite, and Houndoominite mega stones. These in turn will allow player to mega evolve the Pokémon Pidgeot, Steelix, Heracross, and Houndoom to during battle. Although these Pokémon aren’t in the game, players can carry them across from previous games via Poké Transporter.

Mega stones are largely a relic from Pokémon X and Y, and allow certain Pokémon to evolve into a new form temporally when used in battle.  Asides from looking cool, the evolutions also come with state increases, new abilities, and sometimes even type changes.

Mega stones were largely replaced with Z-moves in Pokémon Sun and Moon, however the post-game content does contain a select few. Nintendo have been carefully dishing out the rest via events and the Mystery Gift feature.

UK Pokemon fans are also able to get a free code to download a Lycanroc (Midnight Form) by visiting GAME, although the offer ends on 31 May. US players can get the Pokemon from 15 May from GameStop stores.
